Maluku x Papua 1951

Maluku x Papua - Melanesia

The design on the back represents the roots of the Moluccan and Papuan families that came to the Netherlands from 1951 - 1962, along with the name of the vessels that brought them from east to west.

Most of the families were part of the K.N.I.L (Koninklijk Nederlandsch-Indisch Leger). These soldiers who fought for their beliefs and freedom, were discharged from the Dutch army and left stranded.  Not able to safely return to their homeland Maluku x Papua.
